With September almost a week old, it was time to go back and select a group of photos to represent Kaaawa during the month of August 2010.

Despite the mysterious crying kitten(s), we managed to get our walk to the beach. There were heavy, dark clouds that threatened all along the way. A few drops of rain fell, but there was no serious need to deploy the umbrellas.

It was raining out over the ocean in several directions this morning, although we never really got rained on, at least not beyond the slightest sprinkling.
At the far end of the beach, this small boat was pulled up onto the sand, probably by whoever was sleeping in the tent nearby.

We had a visit yesterday from one of those beautiful peahens and three healthy looking chicks!
It seems that Kaaawa’s population of peafowl is growing! These probably aren’t the only chicks to appear this season. Soon it will be time for a census.

I thought we heard a weather forecast last night predicting sunny weather for today.
But there wasn’t much sun to be found in Kaaawa this morning.
A few minutes after I took this picture, that rain reached us and it was umbrellas most of the way home.

Gone are the vivid reds and oranges of those winter dawns in Kaaawa.
Now it’s blue skies, with the sun well above the horizon by the time we get down to the beach, usually by 6:45 a.m.
It like a whole new spin on starting the day.

It was overcast and threatening when we got down to the beach early this morning. The sun, which came up about 6:10 a.m. today, had already been up for about half an hour before were on the beach, but the thick dark clouds muted its presence.

We had just gotten down to Swanzy Beach Park yesterday morning when the rain hit. It was a driving rain with strong wind. We stopped to see four of our favorite dogs who live near the park, then tried to plunge ahead. But when the wind threatened to rip our umbrellas apart, we retreated inland [...]
